Child Protection Policy
Managing juvenile diabetes (Type 1) requires extraordinary care, vigilance, and safety. We are deeply committed to protecting children’s health, privacy, and online well-being.
Our Core Safeguards for Young Diabetics & Minors
1. Pediatric Diabetes & Guardian Supervision
Many children and teenagers live with Type 1 Diabetes and require daily insulin administration, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), and meal carbohydrate estimation.
Diabetos offers specialized Junior & Teen Chronic Care Profiles that enable parents, guardians, and designated school nurses to monitor blood glucose trends safely without exposing young users to unrestricted public social channels.
2. Age Restrictions & Consent Protocols
In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK GDPR-K standards, and domestic child safety legislation:
- Children Under 13: Direct independent registration is prohibited. Accounts for children under 13 must be created and fully managed by a verified parent or legal guardian.
- Teens (Ages 13–17): May access personalized tracking tools under supervised "Family Caregiver Mode" with active parental oversight.
- Parental Consent Verification: We require SMS or email verification from the parent prior to enabling data synchronization from pediatric Bluetooth glucometers.
3. Emergency Safety & Hypoglycemia Relays
Hypoglycemia in young children can happen swiftly during sports, school play, or missed snacks. Our mobile app provides an automated safety relay:
If a reading below 3.9 mmol/L is registered, an automated SMS/push alert is dispatched instantly to both parents and designated emergency contacts.
Parents can generate temporary, read-only QR code passes for teachers or school nurses with zero access to the child's full personal history.
4. Zero Commercial Profiling & Marketing
We maintain an uncompromising stance against commercial exploitation of minors:
- We do not collect behavioral data on children for marketing or targeted product promotions.
- We do not share pediatric vitals or dietary patterns with third-party advertising brokers.
- All educational games and meal quizzes for children are 100% ad-free and focused strictly on health literacy.
5. Zero Tolerance for Exploitation & Abuse (CSAE)
Diabetos enforces a strict, zero-tolerance policy regarding Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSAE).
Direct messaging on our platform is restricted exclusively to verified medical practitioners and confirmed family caregivers. Community forum features are heavily moderated using automated keyword filtering and human clinical moderation. Any attempted predatory behavior or grooming triggers immediate account termination and mandatory referral to national law enforcement agencies.
6. Parental Rights & Child Data Management
Parents and legal guardians retain the permanent right to:
- Review all health logs, notes, and messages recorded on their child's profile.
- Export complete medical summaries for pediatric endocrinology appointments.
- Request immediate deletion of their child's data at any time via our Data Deletion Page.
