IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A MEDICAL EMERGENCY—INCLUDING SEVERE HYPOGLYCEMIA (CONFUSION, SEIZURES, LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS), SUSPECTED DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS (DKA), CHEST PAIN, OR A HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS—IMMEDIATELY CALL NATIONAL EMERGENCY SERVICES (999 / 911) OR PROCEED TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM.

1. Acceptance & Eligibility

By creating an account, downloading the Diabetos mobile application, or accessing our web portal, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Policies, as well as our Privacy Policy and Child Protection Policy.

You must be at least 18 years of age to establish an independent user account. Minors between the ages of 13 and 17 may only use the platform under the direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian with an active guardian account. For users under 13, please review our Child Protection Policy.

2. Medical Telemetry & Self-Management

Diabetos assists in logging blood glucose (sugar), blood pressure, meal nutrition, and medication schedules. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of all manually entered blood glucose and blood pressure numbers.
  • Bluetooth-connected medical hardware (glucometers, continuous glucose monitors, blood pressure cuffs) are manufactured by third parties and may be subject to hardware calibration variances or transmission delays.
  • Nutritional analysis (including carbohydrate counting for traditional staples like Sadza, millet, and cassava) are estimates based on standard nutritional reference tables.
  • You should never discontinue, modify, or adjust any prescription medication or insulin regimen without consulting your qualified attending physician.

3. Telehealth & Clinical Doctor Consultations

When you initiate a clinical consultation or send messages to a registered doctor or diabetes educator through Diabetos:

  • Medical practitioners on the platform are independent licensed professionals registered with their respective national Medical and Dental Practitioners Councils.
  • Telehealth consultations are suitable for non-urgent follow-ups, lifestyle coaching, and medication reviews. Telehealth cannot replicate comprehensive in-person physical examinations.
  • Prescriptions issued electronically remain subject to the clinical discretion of the attending doctor and national pharmaceutical dispensing regulations.

4. Emergency Distress & Ambulance Services

Our platform includes features to send emergency distress signals to designated caregivers and alert nearby participating private and municipal ambulance dispatchers.

Network Availability & Response Times: Emergency dispatch signals rely on cellular data, GPS connectivity, and third-party driver availability. Diabetos does not guarantee uninterrupted network transmission or arrival times of emergency response vehicles. In any acute life-threatening situation, always attempt direct phone calls to emergency services.

5. Account Security & Acceptable Use

You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activities conducted under your account. You agree not to:

  • Share your account credentials or allow unauthorized third parties to log in as you.
  • Upload fraudulent health logs or deliberately falsify vital signs data to deceive attending medical personnel.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, decompile, or tamper with our software applications, APIs, or database systems.
  • Harass, abuse, or use inappropriate language toward healthcare providers or other community members.

6. Subscriptions, Telehealth Fees & Payments
